Biker Dogs

I had been following a guy on a motorcycle for a few miles while on my way into work. Nothing new. Until I pulled up next to him at a red light and saw his two best friends sitting in his lap. How awesome is that?!?

So I followed him until he stopped at a bank and went inside. I had to make a picture of this so I figured I’d take the chance of looking like a creepy stalker and wait for him to come out of the bank. He was very understanding and happy share his story and let me take his photo.

Turns out the dogs are service dogs for his Post Traumatic Stress Disorder and said their company kept him alive as he battled prostate cancer in 2007.

I love randomly coming across photos and stories like this. Makes this job a lot of fun.

Joe Hanson and his service dogs Star, left, and Kira, pulls out onto Main Street while on his way to an appointment at the VA hospital on Monday, Feb. 25, 2013 in Gainesville, Fla. Hanson said the dogs helped him stay alive during his battle with prostate cancer in 2007. Hanson, a Viet Nam veteran from Beverly Hills, Fla., says the dogs help him stay calm while dealing with post traumatic stress disorder.
